Zaporozhye State Medical University (ZSMU) is an autonomous educational institution of the IV level of accreditation.
The university is the center point for the students, local and overseas, planning to pursue bachelor, Master of Pharmacy
and MD training. The history of the university takes you back to the times of Women Pedagogic Courses organized in Odessa in 1903. Later, in 1921, these Courses were restructured into the Chemical Pharmaceutical Institute. In 1935, the
institution was renamed with the State Pharmaceutical Institute. In 1941, the functions of the Institute were interrupted by Great Patriotic War. In 1959, the Institute was shifted from Odessa to Zaporozhye renamed as Zaporozhye Pharmaceutical Institute. The
Medical Faculty was opened in 1964, and the Institute was again renamed into Zaporozhye Medical Institute in 1968.
Zaporozhye Medical Institute received the status of the first category Institute in 1975. It attained the status of Zaporozhye
State Medical University in 1994. Now, it has become one of the best medical universities in Ukraine.
